POSITION TITLE:       Reading/ELA Interventionist - Secondary (1-Year Only)

FUNDING SOURCE:    Federally Funded Positions

STATUS:                   182/179 Days; Teacher Salary Schedule

REPORTS TO:            Building Principal

 

POSITION SUMMARY: This position will serve middle school and high school students with one-on-one and small group instruction in the area of reading and ELA. This teacher will be tasked with building collaborative relationships with teachers, students and families to enhance student learning experiences in the area of Reading and ELA.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

The list of Essential Functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

  1. Provide and deliver focused Reading intervention instruction to students in small group settings.
  2. Develops and delivers lesson plans appropriate to the needs and abilities of assigned students through push-in or pull out instruction.
  3. Uses a variety of instructional techniques and reading materials appropriate for the age and skill level of students for the purpose of improving student outcomes and achievement.
  4. Assists with the screening and evaluation of students.
  5. Frequently monitor progress of students receiving intervention services in order to adjust instructional practice.
  6. Collects data to share with classroom teachers.
  7. Participates in monthly professional development sessions.
  8. Attend PLC meetings and parent meetings as required.
  9. Attend professional development opportunities to support students and the school.
  10. Provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses.
  11. Provide the high quality instruction time needed to move students to grade level proficiency.
  12. Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the school administrators.
  13. Travel Requirement -travels to school buildings and professional meetings as required.
  14. Follows all district policies and procedures.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

  5. Ability to accomplish tasks that are often interrupted by persons with special and/or immediate needs.
  6. Ability to report to work consistently and promptly as scheduled.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. Requires valid Missouri Teaching Certificate – Reading/English Language Arts (1-8, 5-9, or 9-12) or Reading Specialist K-12.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with personnel, students, and patrons in individual and group settings.
  1. Knowledge of informal and formal assessment procedures and curriculum standards.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and utilize manual dexterity.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Requires ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and ability to work in noisy, stressful and crowded environments. Ability to work in a variety of locations throughout the District and requires reliable transportation to meetings inside and outside of the District.
