POSITION TITLE:          Curriculum Coordinator – Science & Mathematics

WORK/FLSA STATUS:   204-Day Employee; Exempt

PAY CATEGORY:            Teacher Salary Schedule Plus 25 Additional Days

REPORTS TO:                Chief Teaching and Learning Officer

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Curriculum Coordinator – Science & Mathematics will develop curriculum to maximize the learning outcomes for each student; assisting with implementation of related activities; providing information to others; implementing, maintaining, and improving the quality of instruction; and following established guidelines and standards. The focus will be on K-12 Science and Mathematics as well as supporting electives when needed. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provide support to teams in the review and development of course curriculum and alignment to state and national standards.
  2. Works with district staff and community partners to continually evaluate curriculum and programs.
  3. Manage the annual review and revision of board adopted curriculum using assessment data, feedback and other information that indicates needed revisions.
  4. Facilitation of horizontal and vertical alignment of district curriculum and resources.
  5. Keep well-versed in current developments in the areas of curriculum, pedagogy, and theory related to curriculum, instruction, and best practices.
  6. Identify appropriate professional development opportunities in curricular areas.
  7. Develop and provide necessary professional development to meet the needs of the district.
  8. Provide modeling and instructional support in research-based instructional practices and the use of evidence based resources and materials.
  9. Facilitate reviews of standardized test data and other relevant data; communicate findings and curricular implications with committee members and/or other stakeholders.
  10. Analyze data to make determinations for student supports and interventions in accordance with state mandates and district policy.
  11. Work collaboratively with building staff to plan and implement intervention evaluative measures and tiered plan development.
  12. Follow all district policies and procedures.
  13. Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  1. Ability, both orally and in writing, to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from colleagues, administrators, parents, and students.
  2. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents though oral and written communication.
  3. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data, state curricular documents, online platforms, and resources.
  4. Ability to provide instructional feedback to colleagues regarding curriculum implementation and instructional strategies.
  5. Working knowledge of Google Suites.
  6. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  7. Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  8. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and to understand abstract and concrete variables.
  9. Ability to use available information and develop realistic long-term and short-term plans for curricular goals.
  10. Ability to unpack the standards.
  11. Ability to lead, organize, and motivate people.
  12. Ability to perform duties with awareness of school expectations/requirements.
  13. Ability to organize information from various sources.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. At least 5 years of teaching experience (Science and/or Mathematics preferred).
  2. Possess a Missouri DESE certification.
  3. Master’s Degree preferred.
  4. Prior experience in leading professional development referred.
  5. Strong instructional leader.
  6. Successful experience in administering and interpreting standardized tests.
  7. Knowledge and experience in assessment and data analysis.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

 

The work setting involves performance in an environment with various levels of staff and the accomplishment of tasks that are often interrupted by persons with special and/or immediate needs.  The employee must be able to regularly work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and utilize manual dexterity.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception.  The employee must independently transport him/herself to various sites in the District as well as other sites out of the District for various types of meetings and events.
